Mick Harris is the owner of Shellharbour Scuba & Photography in Shellharbour NSW Australia. Mick is a PADI qualified Open Water Scuba Instructor for more than a decade, Mick specialises in DPV (underwater scooter) dives and is an avid lover of underwater photography. Mick’s passion for ocean exploration has seen him log well over several thousand dives. His most memorable diving destinations include Egypt, Japan, Chuuk Lagoon, the Solomon’s, Fiji, Honiara, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu, the Philippines, Manado, and Palau – just to name a few!
Since landing back in Australia and calling Shellharbour home, Mick has become well recognised and a respected member of the diving community. Bass Point has led to some truly remarkable photographic opportunities for Mick, including the discovery of the Sydney pygmy pipehorse (previously unknown to the area), and a NEW species of sea spider (graciously named after him).
“To dive, or not to dive? What a silly question!”
Mick leads Shellharbour Scuba & Photography weekend dives and doesn’t leave home without his camera – ready for that next shot! His favourite subject and Bass Point resident is the Australian giant cuttlefish. Mick can be regularly found in store servicing tanks or catching up on diving gossip – Mick welcomes you to drop in anytime and is always happy to share his passion with you.
